The common portal of the Hungarian archives was created in 2008 on behalf of the Ministry of Culture by the Archive of Budapest. The Hungarian Portal of Archives was intended to be the common portal of the county and city archives. Later, the Hungarian National Archive joined the initiative. At present, the portal includes 7 thematic data-bases and approximately 3 million items can be accessed to. In 2009, the implementation of the E-Archive program was launched by a consortium including the Hungarian National Archive, the Archive of Budapest and the National Info-communication Ltd. As a result of the current project, the archives have obtained new equipments for digitization. The services of the E-Archive Portal render the online research and the automatic access to digital contents possible.
