Niche theory and speciation

Niche theory and speciation (42)

The goal of the workshop was to review and integrate theories of formation and maintenance of species diversity. It covered empirical and theoretical aspects of niche segregation, phenotypic evolution, and genetics of speciation, with the aim of developing connections between ecological and genetic theories of biodiversity.

The event was the second workshop of the European Science Foundation's Research Networking Programme “Frontiers of Speciation Research”, co-sponsored by the International Institute for Applied Systems Analysis (IIASA) at Laxenburg, Austria. The scientific program included 16 invited and 15 contributed lectures; 15 posters were presented with 5-minutes introductory presentations. Two discussion sessions took place. A special issue of Evolutionary Ecology Research is going to be published on this occasion. Organisers: Géza Meszéna, Åke Brannström, Ulf Dieckmann, Gabriella Magyar, Liz Pásztor and András Szilágyi
